After an almost endless bank holiday of struggling with flatpack furniture and single handedly navigating my way through IKEA, I have finally got my ideal make-up storage table and freestanding drawers – yay!
So after the endless posts and inspiration I finally decided (spur of the moment) to get myself over to IKEA and purchase my table and drawers. I didn’t consider the fact that it was an unwritten rule apparently to have a family day out in IKEA on a bank holiday, and I also left it pretty last minute (from past retail experience I embodied the worst kind of customer on a Sunday) with only 30 minutes to spare before closing. I also didn’t consider the fact that any of this furniture would be heavy, or choose a more appropriate outfit for lifting flatpack furniture – so there I am at 4.45pm, struggling in a dress to lift 4 separate pieces of HEAVY flatpack furniture with what little upper body strength I had onto my rather wobbly trolley, what a scene.
To my surprise, I not only lifted the furniture into the trolley but also into my car and, expertly arranged it all to fit in my Fiesta – a vision of an independent woman.
2 hours, 100’s of screws, a drill here and a hammer there later my project was complete! Instagram worthy and perfect, I filled and categorised my make-up into all my new storage space and to my surprise had a few drawers left over – I’ll just have to fill them up I guess ;).
If you want to take some inspiration from my make-up storage I’ve included links to the Alex Drawers and the elements of the dressing table I put together: Alex Drawers , Linnmon table top, Alex add on unit.
